清朝貴族の日常生活を垣間見ると言っても、収蔵品総数が１８０万点との話で、とてもじゃないけどキリがない。
それでも私は熱心に見て回りましたが、「豪華絢爛」とか「金に糸目をつけない」などという言葉が脳裏に浮かぶうちに、なんだかとても疲れ果ててホテルに帰った。
そういえば、「台北でも故宮を見たなぁ」と思い出しつつ。
国共内戦に負けて蒋介石が持って台湾に逃げたのは、比較的小さな逸品だったのだろうか。

Even though it’s said to be a glimpse into the daily lives of Qing dynasty aristocrats, there’s no end to it, as the total collection is said to be a staggering 1.8 million items.
I looked around enthusiastically, but with words like “splendid” and “no expense spared” coming to mind, I felt exhausted and returned to the hotel.
Come to think of it, I remember there was one in Taipei too.
Was it a relatively small masterpiece that Chiang Kai-shek took with him and fled to Taiwan after losing the Chinese Civil War?

7月末、たまたま東京富士美術館で買い求めたクリアーファイルに清朝貴族の写真があった。
I wonder what kind of people lived in this palace? By chance, I found a photograph of a Qing dynasty aristocrat in a clear file folder I bought at the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum in July.
It was probably created when the museum once held the “Forbidden City Exhibition.”
