Traces of glory
Komaba Park in Meguro Ward still preserves the final remains of the former head of the Kaga domain, which was relocated from Hongo in Bunkyo Ward in the early Showa period in Japan.
The main residence(completed in 1929 and cnstructed in British country house-style design) was an opportunity to get a glimpse into the aristocratic lifestyle and culture that was firmly rooted in pre-war Japan. This is said to reflect his long experience of working in Western Europe.
Although it was taken over by the U.S occupying forces after Japan’s defeat in the war, it is now open to the public.
I thought about the 「light and shadow」 of modern Japan.
